APOSHO, the Asia-Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organization, traces its origins to Singapore, where organisations committed to advancing safety came together in 1985 for the 1st Annual Conference. Participating countries included New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, India, and the Philippines. Originally known as the Coordinating Committee of Asian Pacific Safety Councils, the alliance formally adopted the name APOSHO — Asia Pacific Occupational Safety & Health Organisation — at its 8th Annual Conference in 1992. In 2026, APOSHO returns to Singapore for its 40th Conference and Annual Meeting, marking a symbolic homecoming to the city where the APOSHO journey first began.
